Over Reach or Overreaching

Horses “over-reach”  when the hind foot strikes the front foot (heel, fetlock, coronary band, fetlock or flexor tendon)  sometimes causing an injury. The use of bell boots or fetlock rings help to prevent such injuries. This can occur even during turnout. Many horse owners use bell boots during turnout. Over-reaching is and indication that the horse is moving out of balance.
